Fun Find: DIY Finding Dory Holiday Wreath Video

Happy Friday Friends!!!  Confession: I'm kind of on a wreath kick.  Last week, it was the It's A Small World Wreath video that I shared.  Today, it's another one... but in my defense, I found these videos a few months ago when I was playing on Youtube.  I knew I wanted to share them once it was finally the holiday season... so here we are!

Today, we're taking a look at how to make this a-DORY-able wreath!

Eliot and I love Finding Nemo and Finding Dory.  The movies also hold a special place in my heart because we had our wedding reception at the Living Seas Salon in Epcot which is also the home of The Seas with Nemo and Friends!

As soon as I saw this video, I knew that I wanted to save it so I could make us a wreath for our house!  Our guest bathroom is eventually going to be Finding Nemo and Dory themed so this would be the perfect way to great guests during the holiday sea-son!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY video too!  Merry fish-mas!!!  °o°

Elissa's Visit

Hi friends!  I'm sorry I've been quiet since the Color Run.  Last week, Eliot's sister Elissa was here for a few days for her University of New England orientation!  The past two summers, Elissa has stayed with us for over a month and we've dubbed it "Camp Cady".  Eliot and I were excited to have her out for a quick visit, but we had a lot to cram into those few days.  Here's our shortened version of Camp Cady 2016:

Elissa arrived really late Monday, or really early Tuesday, depending on how you want to look at it.  Her connecting flight from Baltimore was delayed, so instead of arriving at 12:15 am, she got in to Portland at 1:22.  Then, by the time she got her luggage, it was 2:00 am.  We were back at our house around 2:30, and we all got to bed around 3:00 am.  Eliot and I had to work Tuesday, but thankfully she got a chance to sleep in!

Tuesday afternoon, Elissa hung out while I took a power nap after work.  Then, we met up with Eliot to go to dinner at one of Elissa's favorites- Longhorn Steakhouse.  She was thrilled to get her mac and cheese.  After, we went to Target to do some shopping before heading home.  It was an early night since we were all still exhausted.

Wednesday morning, I took Elissa over to her UNE orientation.  We checked her in, got her overnight housing assignment, and made sure her health and financial aid paperwork was all set.  We took her stuff to her room and I met her roommate before leaving the girls to start their day!  Then, I went home and got ready for work.

Thursday, Eliot picked Elissa up from orientation after work.  Then, they came over to my office.  We stayed after work so Elissa could meet Bear, the black lab who is at our office.  We played with him for a bit before heading over to Old Orchard Beach.  The beach has fireworks every Thursday during the summer so the timing was perfect.  We enjoyed the fireworks from the beach.  Afterwards, Eliot and Elissa split some Pier Fries and fried dough, while I had a Blizzard from Dairy Queen.

Friday, I had the day off so Elissa and I slept in until mid-morning and hung out at our house.  Elissa watched Camp on our DVR while I got a few business and blog prep things done.  Later in the afternoon, we met up with Eliot after work.  We grabbed a pizza at Amato's.  Then, the three of us went to the Saco Drive-In movie theater.  None of us had ever been to a drive in movie so it was a new experience.  We had a blast!

We saw a double feature of The BFG and Finding Dory.  We all enjoyed The BFG.  It started drizzling towards the end of the movie, but it cooled off.  After intermission, a lot of people left since it was raining.  We'd all seen Finding Dory already, so we weren't worried about a little rain.  We enjoyed the movie and it was nice to experience it at the drive in!  Eliot and I can't wait to go see more movies there!  Not only was it tons of fun, but for the three of us it was the equivalent to $2.50 per movie!  What a deal!

Sadly, all good things must come to an end.  Saturday morning, we got up early to make sure Elissa was all packed up.  Eliot and I also had to pack for our long holiday weekend.  We dropped Elissa off for her flight at noon and headed towards Bar Harbor for our 4th of July weekend adventure!  Camp Cady was super short this summer, but we're really looking forward to having Elissa here in Maine this fall!  °o°

Finding Dory Movie Review

Eliot and I went to see Finding Dory this weekend!  The movie was so good!  It's easy to see why it's the breaking records as the highest-grossing animated film debut of all time.  We both loved it, and we're already talking about going to see it again.

We had planned to go to the Saco Drive-In since they were showing Finding Dory and Zootopia back to back.  Eliot and I arrived well before the movie was supposed to start, and the drive-in was already full.  There were at least 30 other cars trying to get in, so many that they pulled into the break down lane with their blinkers on.  (I really hope this means the drive in theater will pair these movies together again soon!)

Instead, we drove down the road to the local movie theater.  Thankfully, there were a few more shows starting within the hour.  We decided that we'd go see it in IMAX 3D since we went to the traditional movie theater.  I'm so glad we saw it in 3D too!

Of course, the visuals were beyond incredible.  Disney and Pixar always stuns me with their beautiful animation.  The amount of color and detail was amazing.  Sometimes, I thought I was underwater swimming alongside the characters.

Speaking of characters, Dory as a baby has got to be one of the cutest baby Disney characters ever.  (Baby Sven is still my top favorite!)  Through her memory flashbacks, we learn Dory's backstory, meet her parents and we find out where she's from.  We also learn how Dory's motto "Just Keep Swimming" came to be.

The new characters introduced in the movie were a great addition.  After seeing previews, I didn't really know what to think of all the new additions.  However, they were all wonderful.  The sea lions and Becky the loon were hilarious and the perfect comedic relief.  The whales were an important part of the plot.  And then there was Hank.  Hank surprised me most of all.  I won't spoil his role in all of this, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one in the audience who fell for Hank the octopus.

The storyline was perfect.  I didn't know what to expect, even after seeing all of the trailers.  The whole story fit together seamlessly.  When it got to a certain part near the end ("Shells; I like shells.") I realized what was going to happen and I started to tear up.  It was definitely a sequel that's just as good, if not better, than the original.

Finally, one piece of advice if you haven't gone to see the movie: Don't leave before the credits end!  Disney and Pixar are known for tucking in little snippets at the end of their credits, and this one did not disappoint!  In fact, I think it's the longest end credit scene I've ever seen.  Don't be like 90% of our theater and leave or you'll miss it!

Overall, Finding Dory was a fantastic (or should I say "fin-tastic"?) movie.  It's another Disney Pixar masterpiece and I know it will be loved for years to come.  °o°
