Magical Merchandise: New Baublebar Hair Clips

Happy Monday!  I hope your week is going well so far!

Today is a happy day indeed, as I was pleasantly surprised by an email that I received earlier.  I had planned on writing another post for today's merchandise find... until I got a text and email from Baublebar about their new Disney hair accessories!

As soon as I saw it, I dropped what I was doing and went to check the website out.  I was really surprised to find totally new hair claw designs!  I've seen their original Disney hair claw design, and I'd have recently seen glimpses of that same design in new colors.  (More about that below.)  I had assumed that they'd finally released those online.  What I wasn't prepared for were completely new designs!

It seems only fitting that we start off with the Red Minnie Mouse Hair Claw Clip.  Minnie Mouse and her Red Polka Dot bow are fashion icons after all.

I love this White Minnie Mouse Hair Claw Clip.  It would be perfect for a Disney bride!

The Black and White Minnie Mouse Hair Claw Clip is my favorite of the Minnie Mouse designs.  I love how Minnie is black with a fun white sparkly bow!

This Minnie Mouse Hair Claw Clip only has one Minnie Mouse on it.

Of course, there's also a Mickey Mouse design to accompany the Minnie design.  This Red Mickey Mouse Hair Claw Clip would be fun to wear with a Mickey Disneybound.

I really love the White Mickey Mouse Hair Claw Clip too.  It's also great for a bride!

Just like the Minnie design, I'm a big fan of the Black and White Mickey Mouse Hair Claw Clip.  I love the look of the black and white together!

The Black Mickey Mouse Hair Claw Clip is my favorite of the black and white Mickey designs.  I love how it's mostly black but still has the pop of the white outline.

My overall favorite Mickey design is definitely the Rainbow Mickey Mouse Hair Claw Clip.  What can I say, I'm a total sucker for rainbows and anything colorful!

I have always loved hair claws and I used to wear clips and claws in my hair all the time.  I've had them away in storage for a few years now, but I've recently gotten a few of them out so I can start adding them back into my hair accessory rotation.  As you know, I have super thick, curly hair so these will be perfect to help hold it up!

They also still have the original Disney hair claws available.  This design was the one that I first discovered a few months ago.  It has little Mickeys scattered all over it.  The design originally came in two color combinations.  The first one was Tortoise.

The other original color was pearl- which is a white with pastel Mickeys.

Baublebar did finally release the original hair clip in the new colors that I'd seen sneaks of in advertisements.  A few of the new colors even glow in the dark!

One of the new designs I was most excited about was the purple clip.  I love purple and this is perfect for Rapunzel and Figment themed outfits... and I have a lot of Tangled stuff!  The purple design is also one of the ones that glows in the dark.

I like this green but it's a bit light for my wardrobe.  But it glows in the dark!

I like pink and this soft shade is pretty and perfect for spring.  It also glows in the dark.

This light yellow also works perfectly for spring.  I don't have many yellow clothes, but I'm thinking it would go with a few of my Belle outfits.  The yellow glows in the dark too.

Finally, the last new color is blue.  Unlike it's lighter counterparts, this one does not glow in the dark.  This is my favorite of the new colors.  I have so much blue in my wardrobe, and I love how bright and bold it is!  I hope they make more bright colors!

They've also had a smaller oval clip for a while.  It's available in Tortoise and Black with multi colored crystals.  I wish they'd make a larger black one.  I love the colors!

And I've saved the best for last.  This one wasn't featured in the email or text that I received, but when I was online I stumbled across it.  This small white rainbow Minnie Clip is my favorite of all the new ones.  I love that it's a tiny clip.  I'm tempted to get two of them so I can separate my hair with them.  Ok, so someone was a giant fan of those butterfly clips back in the 90's... and I could totally get behind Mickey and Minnie clips!

I hope you enjoyed seeing all of the new Baublebar Disney hair claws and clips!  I hope this means that there will be many more fun designs and colors to come.  Oooh, and maybe holiday clips!  I would go crazy for some special Disney themed Halloween and Christmas hair clips... Please Baublebar!!!  A girl can dream right?  °o°

Small Shop Saturday: Headbands (Part 2)

You might recall that back in July I finally got my hair cut and got rid of my quarantine hairdo.  It's now a little shorter than shoulder length which is pretty short for me.  I haven't had it this short since Eliot's and my honeymoon in March of 2013!  Back then, I got it cut before we left for Walt Disney World and it was so short that I couldn't even pull it back in a ponytail.  (I had pig tails our entire honeymoon.)  This time, I was sure to tell the hair stylist that I needed to be able to pull it into a ponytail for working out, cleaning the house and working on projects and mouse ear orders.

Part of the reason that I wanted my hair cut was so that I could start to wear it down more often when the weather cools off.  I'm notorious for putting it back in a bun and calling it good.  I used to actually take the time to do my hair, but staying at home all the time has made me lazy.  I'm hoping to start wearing it down more now that the fall is here... which means I need options to keep my wild red curls tamed.

Enter the headband.  Back when I cut my hair short in the summer of 2011, I went and bought a bunch of headbands from Claire's.  This time around, I've been obsessed with handmade designs found over on Etsy.  I already bought a bunch of them prior to my haircut.  (You can read about those here in Part 1.)  After I got my hair cut, I bought a bunch more and I thought I'd share those too!

I can't seem to keep myself away from Sew Tangled.  I've placed most of my orders from Tammy as she offers both knot headbands and stretchy knotted headbands.  I've received five more orders since the first one and I absolutely love them.  I've found tons of fun designs- from Disney Dooney inspired patterns, to monorails, to Mickey colors to the Bubblegum Wall and of course a few Harry Potter designs!  In fact, my most recent order arrived on Thursday- just in time to make it into this post!

I bought a lot of Halloween and fall headbands from Sew Tangled.  The candy corn designs are a personal favorite.  I'm pretty obsessed with candy corn and they'll match my Walt Disney World Candy Corn Spirit Jersey and my Loungefly bag from last year!

Sew Tangled also had Haunted Mansion patterns like the cast member maid costume and the tightrope walker's skirt.  I had to get the Mickey wallpaper design!  Of course, I also couldn't say no to the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party cast member costume prints.  I love the Halloween Party and these headbands are so cute!!!

This time around, I also bought a few headbands from Custom Threadss.  I've been admiring a few for awhile now, and I finally purchased my favorites!  I absolutely love the Cinderella pink dress headband and how the knot bow is a tape measure!  I've bought a few Loungefly bags and dresses that match this theme so it's perfect!

I couldn't help myself; I had to have the Wilderness Explorer headband.  I'm also loving how the bow is fabric with all of Russell's patches!

I also bought this stretchy Rapunzel headband from Custom Threadss.  I love it!

A few years ago, I introduced you to my friend Maggie and her shop Elephant and Mouse.  She still makes mouse ears, but she's also branched out to making knotted headbands!  She's had so many fun designs so of course I had to get a few.  So far, I've bought one for fall and one for Christmas, but I've got my eye on a few more of her new plaid Christmas designs... and they've already found their way into my shopping cart!  (You'll probably see another post with those down the line...)

As you can see, my headband addiction has grown into a full blown obsession.  (Send help!)  Seriously, I love them.  I'm hoping to behave myself between now and when the rest of the Christmas designs start to show up... I guess we'll see how that turns out.

In the meantime, Eliot and I are in the process of collecting supplies to make a display for my growing collection.  Then, it will be easy to find what I'm looking for each day.  I'll be sure to update you once the headband display project is completed, as well an update on how my collection looks a few more months from now.  °o°

Small Shop Saturday: Headbands

It's official... I'm completely obsessed with headbands.  I've always loved them, but with the new craze of knotted headbands taking over, it's become an obsession.  Not only are they cute, but they're also a great way to add a little pop of color (or pixie dust and magic) into your everyday wardrobe.  Plus, when you have crazy wild red curls just like Merida, you're always looking for ways to tame your tresses.

A few days ago, I finally got a very much needed haircut.  In anticipation of that, I've been purchasing handmade headbands from some small shops over the past few weeks.  I'm in love with them!  I thought that I'd get all of my new headbands together and share the small shops that I purchased them from!

The first shop that I purchased headbands from was Sew Tangled.  This was my largest order as I bought both knot headbands and stretchy knotted headbands.  I've been eyeing the Lilly Pulitzer prints for a while; I love how fun, bright and colorful they are!  I have a lot of pinks, blues, teals and bright colors in my wardrobe so these were a must.  I also loved the red, white and blue designs for the 4th of July.

Sew Tangled also offered stretchy knotted headbands.  I've always pictured wearing these while working out, but recently, I've seen a lot of people are wearing them everyday.  I thought these might be perfect for keeping my hair out of my face both at Disney and around the house.  I really love the bright colors!  Plus, I simply couldn't help myself with the Spaceship Earth and Galactic Purple Wall prints!

The next order I placed was from Whimzical Creationz.  I've wanted a Disney dogs headband for a while now.  Not only did Wendy have them, but she also allowed you to request a certain character placement on the bow.  I requested to have Pluto on the knot so it would match my new Pluto tank top.  I was so excited when I also got both the Dalmatians on one of the knots too!  I'm also loving the Mickey Buffalo Plaid headband.  It will be great this winter!

My latest order was from Enchanted Candy Carousel.  I've bought handmade clay jewelry and a fascinator from April in the past and she does amazing work.  I was really excited to see that she's started making headbands too!  I had to have both of the bright rainbow styles she offered.  I also loved the Magic Carpet design and it was so original and I hadn't seen one like it anywhere else.  Finally, the ice cream headband was my favorite so I had to get it in both the headband and scrunchie versions!  (I'm pretty sure that scrunchies will end up being my next big thing...sorry wallet!)

Finally, back in May I already posted about my two Disney Dress Shop headbands that I purchased from Thingamabows on Etsy- but I wanted to share them here again with these other headbands that I've purchased!  Ahh, I still love them so much!!!

As you can see, I've got quite a headband collection going... and I've got plenty more already sitting in my shopping cart waiting to be purchased, made and to come home with me.  I'm also going to start making some for myself.  I've pinned a few tutorials over on Pinterest and I'm planning to dive in once I get my sewing machine set up.  I'd love to have headbands to match the tote bags I made in my sewing class!

The next thing on my agenda is to find a way to organize and display all of them so they're easy for me to see and grab.  I've got a few ideas that we're currently looking into making... stay tuned for more on that once Eliot and I get it figured out!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my latest obsession.  If you're in the market for some new accessories or for a great gift, check these small shops out!  °o°

Our 3D Printed Hair Clips Are Here

Today is a very exciting day in the Cady household!  It's the day Eliot and I finally launch one of our new products in our Happily Ever Hatter Etsy shop.  Our new 3D printed barrette hair clips have officially made their debut and joined our product line!

These barrette hair clips have been in the works for a while now.  We've been doing the groundwork for at least 6 months or so.  I've been working on perfecting our listing template, making the actual product listings, finishing samples and taking and editing the photos.  The past few weeks, Eliot has been working tirelessly to convert files and to create a few new ones for me.  He's also been helping with some of the samples.

Our first wave is now live in our shop and it has over 30 designs in the release!  We had a few more we were hoping to get done in time for the launch, but we're happy that we got these done.  The others will make their way to the shop as we finish them.

Plus, we've got a long list of more ideas!  We're hoping to release more designs in waves over the next few months.  On top of that, we've also got a few other products that we're hoping to release if these go over well.  (I guess time will tell!)

I'm excited to have something else to offer our customers.  I know some people aren't really into the whole mouse ears thing, so this will give them an opportunity to wear a Disney accessory that isn't quite so loud.  Plus, these will be great for Disneybounding at home or in the parks!  I can't wait to incorporate our hair clips into my wardrobe!  °o°

Wedding Trip Recap- September 17, 2012

Monday, I had the trial run for my wedding hair and make up from 10 am to 12 pm.  Elissa decided to stay with me to watch while Eliot went to the Magic Kingdom with BJ, Katie and her parents for a few hours.  I absolutely loved my stylist Jessica.  She was funny and put me at ease right away.  I loved what she did with my hair and my make up was flawless.  I felt like a real Disney princess!  She even used the same make up spray that the Disney princesses use to keep their make up perfect all day long.

Once I was done, Eliot came back to Pop Century and the three of us took off to the courthouse to get our marriage license.  Mom and Dad let me take their car for the 30-40 minute drive off property.  When we got to the Osceola County Courthouse, we were pretty surprised to find out that it was closed for Rosh Hashanah!  We had a few laughs about how bad it was that 2/3 of the car load was Jewish and the thought that it might be closed didn't even cross our minds.  However, we quickly got over it and decided to get some lunch since we were all starving.  We found a Wendy's and ordered our food.

Somewhere during the meal, a creepy guy came in and kept looking at me.  Eventually, he came over to me while Eliot and Elissa were getting Frosties for dessert and started talking to me.  I still had my fancy wedding trial hair do and my make up on and apparently he thought that I looked like Adele.  (I don't see it… but anyways.)  So the next thing I know, he's telling the entire restaurant that I was Adele and asked me to sing for them.  I must have been bright red at that point.  Then, he started singing to me!!!  Fortunately, Elissa came to my rescue a minute later.  We packed up our trash and headed out the door, but not before he started asking me for money and telling me how beautiful I was.  (None of us even had cash on us to begin with.)  Needless to say, it ended up being an interesting experience!

After Wendy's we headed back to Disney property and Pop Century so I could work on a few more projects.  We got a laugh when we entered our hotel room and Mousekeeping had put Duffy and our kangaroo on our beds.

I settled in and got to work on a few projects.  I wanted to decorate our windows so I had made Cast Member name badges for all of our wedding party, our parents and my Nana and Papa.  I got to work cutting those out.  I also had signs that said "We're here for Melissa and Eliot's Fairy Tale Wedding."  Once I got those all cut out, I started decorating my parents windows and ours.  Eliot and I also put our personalized Ear Hats and our Tigger and Eeyore in the window.

I also wanted to have a Memory Charm on my bouquet.  I found a picture of my grandfather, one of our first family dog Tobie with Lucky when he was a puppy, and the picture of Lucky and me (with the hidden Mickey) from my college graduation.  I cut them all down to size and glued them to the Mickey rhinestone charm I'd bought.  I was really happy with how it turned out and glad that I could have a part of them all with me even though they weren't here with us anymore.  (And I was also glad that the hidden Mickey in the graduation picture would fit in the frame.)

After dinner, we decided to join up with Eliot's family for a few hours at Hollywood Studios. (Eliot's Mom and Sara had spent the day there with Eliot's aunt and uncle.)  We met them at the entrance and took a few photos in front of the Sorcerer's Hat.  We decided that if we hurried, we still might make it to see Fantasmic.

We arrived at the Hollywood Hills Theater 10 minutes before the show started and the cast members there ended up letting us all sit in the reserved seating area that hadn't been claimed.  We had a perfect center view of the show… talk about good timing!

I love Fantasmic and it's Eliot and Elissa's favorite Disney show.  (Eliot and his groomsmen actually walked into the Wedding Pavilion with part of the Fantasmic music playing.)  Elissa was very excited to see the Disney World version and how it compared to the Disneyland one.  Of course, we throughly enjoyed it.

After the show, we took a few PhotoPass photos in front of the Tower of Terror.  While we were slowly making our way back to the exit, we watched a cast member draw the Fab Five on the pavement with a broom handle and water.

Finally, we went back to Pop Century knowing that we were going to have a very busy Tuesday ahead of us.  °o°
