St. Patrick's Day 2023

Top o' the morning to ya!  It's St. Patrick's Day!!!

Eliot and I usually don't do too much for the holiday, but since it fell on a Friday this year, I knew we had to do something.  Neither of us are big drinkers, so that wasn't even something that crossed my mind.  I like corned beef, but I didn't think ahead and I'm sure the grocery stores are out of it now.  Thankfully, the Maine Mariners have a home hockey game tonight, so that's what we're going to do!

They are giving out t-shirts and having a "green out" so Eliot and I will be wearing our green.  I'm excited to see what the shirts look like.  We're assuming that they'll be the logo with the "a" in Mariners as a shamrock like the advertising for the game has been.

So those are our "big" plans for tonight.  It's not too much out of the ordinary for us... but definitely more our speed.  And I'm really excited!  Hopefully, the Mariners will bring the luck of the Irish and have a good game!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!  °o°

#tbt 2011 St. Patrick’s Day Decor

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I hope you're having a lucky day!  (At this point, I'll consider today a success if we don't have a squirrel in our house this year.)  Anyways... I'm back with one last Throwback Thursday decor post with pictures of holiday decorations from our apartment in Woburn!  I thought it would be appropriate to post this today.  If you missed out on my previous posts, you can find Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and Winter at those corresponding links.

Today, we're traveling back to St. Patrick's Day of 2011.  This was the last holiday that I posted photos online.  There's still a small chance that I have Easter photos from that year as well... but I'll have to check my desktop computer for those!

Like all of our other tours, we're starting off in our living room.  With our bright red couch and chair and a half, all of the green decor definitely popped!

Eliot's side table got a fabric cloth for decor.

My side table held my giant pot.  I had planned to put gold coins in it, but I didn't.

Our chair and a half had some extra fabric draped over the back.  I also put my shamrock Build-A-Bear in her little green dress on it.  She's so cute!

Our storage had a few more plush Build-A-Bears and some Beanie Babies.

Here's a close up of the Beanie Babies on the DVD storage.

And here are my Build-A-Bears in their St. Patrick's Day outfits!

I put a few gel clings in our front window.  "Kiss Me I'm Irish" was on one side.

And the other Window said "Happy St. Pat's Day!" with shamrocks.

Next on our tour, we're moving over to the kitchen.  I don't remember if I had towels or other decorations for St. Patrick's Day in there, but I did have some shamrock window clings and shamrock lights hung up in the kitchen window.

Our dining room also had a few decorations in it.

I had a little floral display on our dining room table.

Our front window had more gel clings in it.

The top window had the word "Irish" on it.

The bottom right window had "Happy St. Pat's Day!" on it as well.

The side window in our dining room had shamrocks and snowflakes in the window.

Finally, we're ending our tour with a close up of my dining room floral display!  I love the little shamrocks and the leprechaun hats tucked in there.

And there you have it!  Eliot and I didn't have a ton of St. Patrick's Day decorations on display in our apartment back in 2011, but I still think it was fun and festive!

Mathe luck of thIrish be with you!  HappSt. Patrick'Day!!°o°

St. Patrick's Day 2021

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!  I certainly hope the Luck of the Irish is with us today.  Eliot and I are 24 hours in to what I've dubbed as "Squirrel-Gate".  Yesterday, when I came home from sewing class, I discovered we had a red squirrel in our house- specifically my office.  Since then, it seems as if time has come to a complete stand still.

I immediately called Eliot and told him to come home.  Then, I called my parents who told me to close the door to block the squirrel in there.  I did reluctantly, as that's the one room of the house that's mostly remained untouched since we moved in.  I still have piles of boxes and stuff that we stored in there where it'd be "safe"... or so we thought.  I'm going crazy trying not to stress about what he could be destroying in there.  I have so many collectible things and dolls in there waiting to be put in their spots in my office or in other rooms of the house- not to mention my art supplies.

Long story short, Eliot came home with a live trap that he bought at Home Depot.  We set it with peanut butter and graham crackers but the squirrel won't go in it.  (Or if he has, he's not setting it off.)  Yesterday, he freaked out a few times when he realized he was trapped in there.  We could hear it bouncing around and knocking things over.  At one point, I even saw his paw from under the door while he was frantically scratching at the door trying to find a way back out.

After hours of sitting quietly in the living room, we ended up going into Biddeford to Walmart right before they closed to see if we could get another trap.  They didn't have any, but we picked up a few other supplies: steel wool, peanuts, and gloves.  He still wasn't in the trap when we got home.  After a few more hours of hoping we'd hear the trap go off, we went to bed thinking that he'd get hungry at some point and go inside.

This morning all of those hopes went out the window when we saw the trap was still set.  There was a bunch of "sawdust" outside the door and right inside it.  Apparently, he was trying to claw his way out under my door where I saw his paw.  The inside has a hole big enough for a squirrel to fit in, but he didn't make it through all the way.

So Eliot and I went to our next plan, opening the window and the screen.  He hasn't budged, but we do think he's still in there.  Eliot's already called a few pest control people and we've got one on standby in case nothing else works.

Eliot is currently filling up the containers we bought at Walmart with stuff inside my office.  He's hoping if we can clear some stuff out, that the squirrel won't have as many places to hide.  Plus, we'll be disinfecting and cleaning everything before we put it anywhere else.  At least in the containers, it's all contained safely away for when we have time to clean and disinfect everything.

We haven't heard a peep today.  Eliot and I are not even sure if it's still alive.  We've read varying reports online about how long they can go without water.  We've upped the ante since he won't go out of the window willingly.  I've been blasting the Hamilton soundtrack and making tons of noise cleaning things in the kitchen.  We also put my cell phone in my office playing really high pitched noises that squirrels hate from Youtube.  I'm kind of shocked that he hasn't found the window now that the house is getting obnoxious.  That's why I'm wondering now if he's even able to get out or if he's already succumbing to not having any water for 24 hours.

We just don't know what to do.  We really thought we'd be able to catch and release him and that would be that.  I'd hate for him to die because he got trapped inside of my house.  I'm usually such a huge lover of squirrels.  They're cute and I love to watch them scurrying around the yard.  But they're not cute inside of my house.  As Eliot said, "there's a special place in hell for this squirrel" after the stress and trouble he's caused.

This is a huge inconvenience, but I'm trying to stay positive.  I'm hoping this is just the universe's way of forcing our hand to get us cleaning my office and to work on the house more.  We'll have to clean and organize a lot of stuff while we're trying to figure out how the heck he got in here.  We've walked around the outside of the house twice and nothing looks out of place.  The only idea we have is that he somehow got in through the attic.  There aren't any holes or openings in the siding.  We don't have any trees close to the house that he could have jumped from.  We're completely at a loss...

Here's hoping our St. Patrick's Day is filled with a little bit of luck.  Eliot and I don't want much, just for the squirrel to get out of the house (preferably alive and safely) without much more hassle.  I'm off to Walmart to buy more containers since Eliot's run out of them.  Meanwhile, Eliot will be here waiting and hoping that the squirrel will finally go out the window.  And both of us will be praying that he hasn't done much damage in my office.  I wish you all a wonderful St. Patrick's Day, and one free from squirrels!  °o°

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!  Whether you're actually Irish or not, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!!!  I'm part Irish, if my red curly hair didn't give you any hints!

In honor of the holiday, I thought I'd do a quick Throwback Thursday blog post!  Here are some photos from past St. Patrick's Days.

My all time favorite St. Patrick's Day has to be from 2013 when we celebrated Nana and Papa's 80th birthdays at my aunt Sherrie's house.  Papa's birthday was March 4th and Nana's is April 6th so we had a joint celebration in between the two.

Of course, I made sure Eliot and I also dressed up in green!  I went all out with my green sweater, St. Patrick's Day ribbon headband and green Mickey earrings!

I also used to dress up when I worked at my previous job in retail.  This was from 2012 when I wore a green sweater, shirt, my ribbon headband, a green necklace and my shamrock socks to work!  You can't see it in the photo, but I also wore green eye shadow to work that day!  I'm definitely rocking the green theme!

Eliot and I don't do too much for St. Patrick's Day.  As you can see, I usually celebrate with a cake.  I'm not a fan of beer and Eliot and I don't drink often anyways.  Someday, I'd love to wear my green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at Walt Disney World!

Have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!  May the luck of the Irish be with you!!!  °o°

Fun Find: Disneyland Paris St. Patrick's Day

It's time for another Fun Find Friday!!!  In honor of St. Patrick's Day next week, I found a few videos of some of the ways Disneyland Paris celebrates the holiday!

First, here's a video of the St. Patrick's Day Pre-Parade at Disneyland Paris.

Next, I found a video of Chip and Dale dancing with some Irish step dancers.

Of course, no Disney celebration is complete without fireworks!  This is the special St. Patrick's Day fireworks display at Disneyland Paris.  The video below has really nice video footage of the castle projections.  (This is from the 2015 celebration.)

I also found another view of the St. Patrick's Day fireworks from farther away.  You get a better view of the castle and fountains and the entire fireworks show.  The castle projections just aren't as clear in this video.  (This is from the 2013 celebration.)

I hope these videos get you in the St. Patrick's Day mood!  °o°

Mickey and Minnie St. Patrick's Day Printables

Hi Friends!

St. Patrick's Day is about a week and a half away so I figured that it's time I get my Irish on.  Confession: I'm not really sure about how Irish I am.  But I'm part Irish and everyone's Irish on St. Patty's day anyways, right?

To celebrate the upcoming holiday, I've got some printables for you!

I know that you guys love the holiday printables that I post, so I'm back with some for St. Patrick's Day.  In keeping with tradition, I used the Mickey and Minnie St. Patrick's Day Candy Box printables from Spoonful.  I also found a printable for some shamrocks.

Once again, I enlarged their faces.  Next, I printed them on sturdy card-stock and cut them out, being careful to cut directly around their faces.  I added Scotch tape to the back and viola: simple Mickey and Minnie St. Patrick's Day cupboard decorations!

If you'd like to make some, but don't feel like going through all of the steps I did, I've posted my modified files below.  I do not take any credit for creating these! They are property of Disney and Spoonful.  I just modified them to fit my needs! Ok? Got it? Good.

The possibilities with these are endless.  These would make a fun project for kids to make their own masks!  You can also make them into scrapbook embellishments.  If you're going to Disney over St. Patrick's Day, you could print them on magnetic paper and put them on your Disney Resort door!

Enjoy!!!  °o°
