Happy 55th Birthday to the Magic Kingdom and to Walt Disney World!!! ✨🎂✨
October 1st is a very historic day in Disney history. On this day back in 1971, Walt Disney World officially opened it's gates to guests. That day, the resort only consisted of the Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary Resort and the Polynesian Resort. And then 11 years later, Epcot opened on this day in 1982.
Fifty five years later, we've come a long way since admission tickets cost only $3.50.
Walt Disney World has grown to include four theme parks. There are 31 Disney hotel resorts. They also have two waterparks, four golf courses, two mini golf courses, ESPN Wide World of Sports, and the Disney Springs shopping district. And we have all the transportation- monorails, Skyliner, buses, Minnie Vans, ferryboats, FriendShip boats, water taxies and parking trams. Thousands of people enter each of these places daily.
It's incredible when you think about all of the things that have grown and changed over fifty five years... and I'd like to think that Walt and Roy would be proud of our progress.
Happy Birthday Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World and Epcot!!! 💖🏰✨🌐🚝
