We're more than halfway through 2026, so I thought it was time I write a quick blog post about my 2026 goals. Those of you who have been around here for a while know that I usually write this post right at the beginning of the new year. But this year, I was out of my blogging flow and I never posted anything. Still it's been nagging me that I didn't...
After a lot of back and forth, I've decided that I really did want to write about my 2026 goals. However, I'm not going to do a long post like I usually do. This year, my goal list looks pretty much identical to last year's list. So I'm not going to re-hash that again.
Instead, I thought that I would focus on what mattered to me most this year. And the thing I most wanted to share was my Word of the Year. But first, I need to do a quick recap of last year's word since I never wrote a 2025 goal recap post either.
Last year, my word was ABUNDANCE and I was hoping for an abundance of wonderful things like joy, peace, productivity, money, creativity, happiness and magic. Instead, I was officially diagnosed with endometriosis and it feels like I got an abundance of pain, more questions than answers, time sitting around doing nothing and frustration.
Honestly, I thought about writing a goal recap... but what would it even say? "I didn't accomplish any of these things because my new goal became survival?" Surviving 2025, surviving my endometriosis and getting through surgery and recovery was all that mattered to me. I basically ended the year glad that I got through it. And although I did sit down to write my 2026 goals, I never gained enough courage to post them here... because what if 2026 wasn't any better than 2025 ended up being?
Which brings us to today. I'm proud to say that some of my 2026 goals have already been checked off- from my Disney list, my personal list and my blog list. There's still no way that I'll finish my list. But then again, they are goals and I'll probably never cross off the entire list. Still, I already feel like I've accomplished so much more than last year. And I feel like my word of the year has been with me each and every day.
After last year, this year there was one clear word that stood out beyond all of the others. So my 2026 Word of the Year is MOVEMENT. Because last year, I felt like I was standing still all year... both physically and mentally. I physically couldn't move around much because I was in so much pain. And I wasn't able to move forward with much of anything... my goals, my life, my dreams.
So this year, the only thing that mattered to me was moving forward somehow. It didn't matter how much or how little... I just wanted to be moving forward.
And I'm so thankful that I am... Eliot and I have been to Disneyland, Walt Disney World (twice) and we went to London. We're getting ready to go on a Disney cruise for our anniversary, and then take another trip to Walt Disney World over the holidays. I've already accomplished some of my goals. And it finally feels like things are moving.
So here's to the rest of 2026... let's keep moving forward. ✨
