Dolly Parton Day 🦋

Happy Dolly Parton Day!!! 💖

Ever since Dolly passed away a few weeks ago, everyone has been saying that we should celebrate her on 9/25 after her hit song "9 to 5".  I thought that was a great idea, so today, we’re remembering and celebrating Dolly and her love of butterflies. 🦋

Butterflies have always meant a lot to me, especially since my Grammie absolutely loved them.  I remember that she had them everywhere at her and Grampie's house.  To this day, every time I see one flutter by me, or when I stumble across anything that's butterfly related, I always think of Grammie.

Over the past two years, butterflies have taken on an entirely new meaning to me.  Back when Eliot and I went on my 40th birthday trip, I was really struggling and I desperately needed some magic.  Those two weeks away completely transformed me.  It felt like I left for that trip a caterpillar, somehow I unknowingly put myself into a magical Disney chrysalis, and I returned home a butterfly.  Afterwards, I bought myself this Rebecca Hook Mickey Mouse Butterfly Necklace to commemorate my 40th birthday trip and the transformation that I felt.  Spread your wings and fly butterfly... 🦋

So I've kind of felt a kindred spirit with Dolly through the butterfly connection.  And I've also always loved so many of her quotes and philosophies about life.

More recently, I've learned more about Dolly having endometriosis. 💛🎗🌻 It's really inspiring to see other women who have this disease and how they still accomplish so many things.  Over the past year and a half, sometimes it has felt like I'll never be able to live my life normally ever again.  So Dolly has truly inspired me, in so many ways.

Thank you Dolly for all of your words of wisdom, for sharing your music and talents with us, for your enormous heart and generosity and for being an inspiration and someone that I'll always admire.  I will always love you. 💖
