Season's Sportings

It's the most hectic-ful time of the year!!!

It feels like Eliot and I have been going full speed ahead for weeks now.  But we're almost at the final push of holiday orders!  Our holiday season is usually filled with a lot of hustle and bustle, so I've tried to make an effort to stop and enjoy it.  Thankfully, we've been able to kick back a few times!  The beginning of this month has been extra busy as we've been cramming some fun into our already busy calendars.

Back on Friday 12/2, Eliot and I went over to my cousin Luke's house to have a Movie and Game Night with this wife and daughter.  We watched a few episodes of Disney Junior shows with his daughter (she's 4) before it was time for her to head to bed.  The highlight of the evening was definitely when she cuddled up with me on the couch!

After putting her to bed, the adults all ate pizza and played Wingspan.  It'd been a while since we last went over to play, so I was a bit rusty, but I picked it back up.  This time, I went in with a strategy and it paid off.  I did much better and ended up tying with Rachel for second.  Naturally, Eliot won and poor Luke got his booty kicked.  We all had a great night though, and we ended up staying up talking with them until late.  It was around 1:00 am by the time we left, but it was a great night and Eliot and I really enjoyed the break and spending time with them!

The next day, we had an extra early morning.  It was going to be early anyways, but it felt even earlier since we had been out so late.  However, we had an event that I'd been really excited about and I didn't want to miss it!  Saturday morning was Holiday at Hadlock.  Since Eliot and I have only been following the Portland Sea Dogs recently, I didn't even know this existed until I saw it advertised on their Facebook a few weeks ago.  They haven't had it the past few years due to COVID, but once I heard about it, I knew we had to go.  It sounded like a lot of fun!

Eliot and I left the house a little later than we'd planned to, but we still made it in time to get inside the ballpark about 15 minutes before Santa arrived.  The weather wasn't that great, so Santa couldn't arrive by helicopter as planned, so instead he showed up in a Portland Fire Truck.  Eliot and I were inside of the store when he got there so I got a great view through the window.  Slugger was dressed up as Buddy the Elf and he was hilarious running over to the truck to greet Santa.

Eliot and I didn't need to meet Santa, but we did enjoy walking around and checking everything else out.  There was face painting and balloon animals for the kids.  There was also a craft room... probably also for kids but this 38 year old thoroughly enjoyed herself and definitely left with a foam dreidel, Christmas tree and a few Rudolph stickers.  We missed the free Dunkin Donuts shirts, but we'll know to be there early next year.  We also got a few of the free cookies, ok, more than a few because it was near the end of the event and they still had at least 5-6 trays of cookies to give away.

My favorite part was that the ballpark was decorated for Christmas.  They updated the "standings" to a naughty and nice list which was pretty funny.  There was Sea Dogs "wrapping paper" over some of the other signs.  They also had a few small displays of trees and faux presents wrapped beneath them to make it more festive.

There were two frame signs you could hold and take photos with.  We took a photo with one of them and then put the donkeys in by the other one.  (Aren't they adorable in their little Santa hats!?!)  Of course, they also had a special room prepared for Santa and you could watch Frosty the Snowman while standing in the long line to meet him.

Eliot and I both had a wonderful time.  The highlight was definitely when we got to take a photo with Slugger.  We thought that we'd missed him when he disappeared right as we were about to get into the photo line, but he did eventually come back out.  (I'm so glad we stayed because we had almost left and we would have missed him!)  The only downer was that we completely forgot our Toys for Tots gifts at home, but Eliot's work has a drop off.  Holiday at Hadlock was a lot of fun and I can see how kids would really enjoy it!  We'll definitely go there to celebrate the holidays again!

But the fun didn't end there.  On the way back to our car, we stopped in at the Portland Expo Center to see the Craft Fair we'd spotted on the way down to Hadlock Field.  It cost $2 for each of us to get in, but it was worth it to walk around exploring the booths.

It's been awhile since we attended a craft fair, but I love going to them.  Eliot and I got a lot of inspiration and ideas for projects, and we picked up a few business cards from crafters that we'd like to follow or check out their online shops!  (There was a shop with a gorgeous Maine shaped charcuterie board that we'd love to get eventually!)

We didn't leave empty handed either.  Eliot and I each picked out a bag of gourmet popcorn to take home.  Eliot also bought me two pairs of earrings from a shop that sold laser cut metal jewelry and ornaments.  I wanted to get some stained glass earrings from another shop, but I behaved myself.  I did take a business card though!

Before returning home, we stopped in Portland to check out the Home Depot. We'd been wanting to get the Tigger and Eeyore inflatables there.  They didn't have Eeyore, but we did leave with Tigger!  (Eliot's going to get Eeyore in Biddeford.)

The next evening, Mom, Dad and Nana arrived at their hotel in South Portland for Dad's annual tax conference.  On Monday, I drove into Portland on Monday to spend a few hours with them.  Mom and I went to lunch at Friendly's and then grabbed some food at Hannaford.  I visited with her, Nana and Dad for a little bit before I went home.

On Tuesday, I went in later in the afternoon.  Mom and I left for hotel for few minutes of Christmas shopping over at TJ Maxx before we went to get more milk for Nana at Hannaford.  Tuesday evening, Luke and his family were as visiting Nana at the hotel for a little bit so Mom and Dad could get out for a little break.  Eliot and I joined them and we all had a nice dinner together at Applebee's.  After, Eliot and I went back over to TJ Maxx to buy the present for Nana that Mom and I had picked out.  We also bought another gift for her, as well as the Disney Hanukkah blankets that I'd spotted earlier in the day.  (I was so excited to show Eliot but he discovered them before I could show him... he flipped out too!)  Then, we went back over to the hotel to drop off the gifts and visit with Mom, Dad and Nana for a few minutes before heading home.

The next few days Eliot and I worked extra hard since we'd been playing around; plus, we also had plans for Friday night.  The Maine Mariners have a bunch of away games before Christmas, so their last home games were 12/9 and 12/10.  I'd been looking forward to the game that Friday night as soon as I found out the Mariners were doing a Pucks and Paws game.  I couldn't wait to see all of the dogs and I also wanted to get the lay of the land so we'd know what to expect if we brought our puppies to a game.

Eliot and I had so much fun.  The Mariners ended up losing 3-2, but we still had a great time.  There were a few dogs dressed up in Mariners jerseys and it definitely gave me ideas for the future.  We also ran into our friend Jenn who was there with her husband and son.  Eliot and I were both wearing our new Mariners hats.  We also got matching Paws and Pucks shirts to wear next year.  My favorite part of the entire evening was when they played "Who Let the Dogs Out" and the camera found a bunch of the dogs in the stands.  It looked like they were all confused about what they were doing there, but they were happy to be out with their humans!

We've definitely been busy since this month started, but Eliot and I have had a lot of fun and it's been nice to get out and enjoy ourselves a little bit!  The rest of this week is "Hell Week" from now until the USPS shipping deadline on Saturday... so it'll be all hands on deck and no extra time for fun.  But we've had a lot of fun along the way!

Fun Find: DIY Finding Dory Holiday Wreath Video

Happy Friday Friends!!!  Confession: I'm kind of on a wreath kick.  Last week, it was the It's A Small World Wreath video that I shared.  Today, it's another one... but in my defense, I found these videos a few months ago when I was playing on Youtube.  I knew I wanted to share them once it was finally the holiday season... so here we are!

Today, we're taking a look at how to make this a-DORY-able wreath!

Eliot and I love Finding Nemo and Finding Dory.  The movies also hold a special place in my heart because we had our wedding reception at the Living Seas Salon in Epcot which is also the home of The Seas with Nemo and Friends!

As soon as I saw this video, I knew that I wanted to save it so I could make us a wreath for our house!  Our guest bathroom is eventually going to be Finding Nemo and Dory themed so this would be the perfect way to great guests during the holiday sea-son!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY video too!  Merry fish-mas!!!  °o°

A Flurry of Scurrying

Hi Friends!  Whew, has it been a while.  Well... it won't look like that on here eventually, but right now it does anyways.  It's technically been almost two weeks since I last popped in at Thanksgiving.  As you can probably imagine, Eliot and I have been extremely busy the past few weeks.  Things have certainly picked up in the realm of holiday orders.  And we've also been busy actually having lives the past few weeks!

I'll fill you in on everything as soon as I can.  I'm over 20 posts behind where I planned to be right now, so if you follow along regularly, you'll see a lot of stuff popping up for November and December.  I had two DIY posts that I had been planning to finish for October, but at this point I'm over it.  (But I've already got some pumpkins to make a few projects for next year though!)  I am trying to go back and finish all of the posts I had for November and December though.  So those will be here eventually!

In the meantime, I'm mainly focusing on getting everything finished and mailed out for Happily Ever Hatter and Snowblade Creations.  Eliot and I have been printing like crazy, and we're in pretty good shape.  We're actually ahead on most orders and getting them mailed out a week or two ahead of schedule.  There's always a few that we've fallen behind on... but for the most part, we're feeling pretty good about things!

Our big USPS holiday shipping deadline is Saturday December 17th, so we're 10 days away from that.  The next week and a half is going to a flurry of scurrying around finishing everything up, but I think that I'm ready for it!  We've also got a few fun things to look forward to these next few weeks, so that will break things up for us!

I'll pop back in here to get caught up on blog posts whenever I have a break from the hustle and bustle of our flurry of scurrying!  Have a wonderful holiday season!!!  °o°

Holiday 2022 Bucket List

The holiday season has finally arrived and I am 100% here for it!  This year has flown by, but I'm ready to take some time to soak in the holiday magic before we close out 2022 and move forward into another chapter and welcome 2023.

This time of year is usually a flurry of crazy at our house due to all of the orders Eliot and I need to finish for our businesses.  But I always try to take a step back and take a breath.  Creating these bucket lists has helped me try to enjoy what I can out of each season... and if I'm not able to get to everything, that's ok too.  At least we're taking more time for ourselves (without feeling guilty!) and that's a huge improvement!

This year, I made a massive holiday bucket list.  I've continued to separate my goals into categories because it's much easier to find them that way.  And I've probably bitten off much more than I can chew... but I'm going with it anyways.  So let's check out what ambitious Melissa wrote down for holiday goals this year!!!

2022 Disney Christmas Collection

Happy Monday!  Today is Walt Disney's birthday so I thought this was the perfect day to finally share the 2022 Disney Parks holiday merchandise with you.  I admit that I've been putting this post off since I assumed more products would be added throughout the season.  (It started showing up back before Halloween.)  I was correct, but now that Black Friday is over and they're trying to get rid of it, I figured it was time!

This wasn't my favorite release of holiday merchandise.  I was a little bit disappointed, but my wallet was so thankful because there were still plenty of other things that Eliot and I have found locally or on other online shops that found their way home with us instead.  However, there were a few things that popped out at me.

Here are a few things that I liked from the 2022 Disney Holiday Collection.

One of the first things I'm always looking for are the new Spirit Jerseys.  This year, they had a print that resembled an ugly Christmas sweater.  Eliot and I both thought it was cute, but we didn't jump on it.  (We have so many Christmas ones!)

As usual, they had designs for both US theme parks, and a Happy Holidays version.

There were also some for youth and for your furry friends!

Something I slightly regret not getting were the Spirit Jersey sweaters.  Eliot and I love our sweaters from last year.  They're bug, cozy and super comfortable!  They made designs for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland...

As well as a Season's Greetings sweater!  I love how the design has a snowman, trees, rabbits and cardinals.  It would be a great thing to wear all winter!

There was also this cute Mickey and Minnie long sleeve shirt.

If simple and understated is more your thing, they had this long sleeve shirt too.

Switching gears, a few accessories popped out at me.  (You know how much I love accessories!)  This Alex and Ani bracelet was actually my favorite this year.

I don't usually buy park ears, but I might have to get these Mickey Santa ears!

I was sorely disappointed in the Peppermint Loungefly.  They usually do a few hoilday designs, so I wasn't too worried when this was shown back in July.  However, it was the only Loungefly bag in this year's park collection and I don't like it.  The peppermint looks weird to me with only part of it in sequin.  (Plus, someone mentioned a certain Nazi symbol and now that's all I see.)  It's too bad because the mint color, striped straps and cookies are absolutely adorable!

They also released a few new Dooney and Burke bags.  This caught my attention... but not in a good way.  I think it's horrible and the brown straps pull out all of the wrong colors.  You guys know that I love fun, bright colors and this missed the mark for me.

Moving onto home decor... quite possibly my favorite part of the home decor collection was this tree skirt.  I low how the Christmas lights run around the entire outside.  I wish it was a different color way though... still not a huge fan.

They also had a matching pillow.

As well as Mickey and Minnie Mouse stockings.

This fleece throw is cute and simple.

I really liked the Mickey and Minnie Plush!

Now we're moving into my favorite part of this year's designs... the kitchen stuff!  I was pretty flabbergasted when I first saw these adorable baking dishes.

I also really liked the red bowl in this Mixing Bowl Set.

Still not a fan of the ugly mustard brown color, but other than that, I think this Kitchen Towel design is really adorable! I love the cookie theme!

There's a matching Glass Tumbler Set.

And I always love how they include a matching Milk and Cookies for Santa Set.

There was a matching Table Runner.

This is a super cute Minnie Mouse Cake Stand.  I hope they keep making these!

Finally, my favorite piece from the kitchen collection has to be the Christmas Tree Measuring Cups.  Not only are they practical, but they're super cute!

The last part of the holiday items were the Pixar Holiday Collection.  Disney released photos of this
Spirit Jersey back in July and I had such high hopes for this collection because the Spirit Jersey with the Pixar ornaments definitely caught my eye!

They also made some matching mouse ears.

This Kitchen Set is really cute and I love the Wall-E and Eve potholders.

There was also a Monsters Inc Apron.

Here's where they lost me... the nutcracker parts of this design were extremely hit or miss.  For example, on this Plate and Mug Set, Carl is the stuff that fuels nightmares.

But I thought that this Monsters Inc Blanket was pretty cute.

For the most part, I liked this pillow... although I'd probably leave it facing forward.

Whereas this shirt absolutely terrifies me.

Overall, I think the concept to use Pixar for a holiday theme was 100% adorable.... which is why I'm going to leave you with what I thought was the best part of the Pixar Holiday collection... this super cute Monsters Inc Wreath!

And there you have it!  That's a wrap on the 2022 Disney Parks Holiday Collection.  It definitely wasn't my favorite, but my wallet is eternally grateful.  °o°

Fun Find: DIY "It's a Small World" Wreath Video

Happy Friday!  Today I'm sharing a quick little video on a DIY It's a Small World wreath!

It's a Small World is one of Eliot's and my favorite attractions at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.  I'm also completely obsessed with the ride's gorgeous holiday overlay that they do at the Disneyland Resort time of year.  (Eliot's actually never seen it, but it's definitely on our to do list so he can!)  This video reminds me a lot of it too!

I first saw this video from a few years ago and I've always loved how they made this wreath!  I wish that Disney Family do more of these DIY videos like they used to years ago... but I'm definitely happy with the few I've found.  It's also giving me ideas of how to make my own Small World wreath for our house!

I hope you enjoyed this quick little video!  Happy Holidays everyone!!!  °o°

December Dash

Happy December Everyone!!!  It's finally the most wonderful time of the year!!!

Things are crazy here, but that's nothing new.  Eliot and I will be extraordinarily busy the next few weeks with holiday orders for both Happily Ever Hatter and Snowblade Creations.  We're always grateful for all of our customers, and it still amazes me that people want to give things we made to others as gifts.  But I won't lie... it's nice to get them out of here and I still feel extremely accomplished once everything is in the mail.

It's not all work and no play though.  I'm determined to finish the year strong with my word of the year "balance" as a focus.  Therefore, Eliot and I also be making some time for fun this month!  I'm currently finalizing my Holiday Bucket List... which I'll be posting on here in the next day or two!  December passes by so fast; we have to enjoy as much of the holiday season as possible before it slips away like Santa's sleigh!

It's sure to be a busy month as we dash through December, but I think it will be a fun one!  I hope you have a wonderful holiday season friends!!!  °o°
