Magical Merchandise: Jerrod Maruyama Home Collection

Today I'm rebelling a bit against my own "rules"... I've been trying to limit my Magical Merchandise posts to Mondays.  It's a sound plan as that is usually when Disney releases new items on their Shop Disney website, but lately they've been adding more things throughout the week as well.  Today, Disney released another home decor collection and I couldn't help myself; I had to write about it.  So here I am.  But before I dive into the new merchandise, there's a bit of backstory...

There's a really good reason for breaking my own rules.  If you've visited here before, chances are you know about Eliot's and my obsession of Disney art.  I love it.  Whether it's from the parks or from small shops online... I'm all over it.  I want our house to be a reflection of us.  Eliot and I are both creative and we love Disney, so it's not a big jump that we would want to fill our house with bright colors, Disney, and artwork.

In fact, Eliot and I follow a bunch of the Disney artists on Instagram.  It's a great way to find out what's being released at the Festival of the Arts every year.  The artists also usually announce when they're visiting the parks for signings, or when they have new pieces releasing at the art stores in the parks or shopping districts.

One of our favorite Disney artists is Jerrod Maruyama.  Eliot and I both follow him and love his cute character art.  He's done a bunch of designs for Disney through the years.  Hipster Mickey- that's his creation.  All of those cute little Kingdom of Cute prints?  They're from Jerrod as well.  He's also known for his illustrations in a bunch of the children's books that Disney has published recently.

Eliot and I already own prints of Jerrod's Disney Afternoon, Disneyland Kingdom of Cute and his Electrical Parade.  This year, we had someone pick up his Mickey's Philharmagic print that was released at the Festival of the Arts.  I also have a ton of his designs as postcards: Epcot, Cars Land, It's a Small World, Up, Ratatouille, Toy Story, and more that I've probably forgotten about.  I also have the Disneyland Kingdom of Cute Backpack he designed back in 2017 that people went absolutely nuts over.  I've slowly been collecting the Disney children's books he's illustrated.  And I'm pretty sure I've bought a few shirts with his artwork on them as well.

Clearly, Jerrod's artwork really speaks to us.  A lot of people own something that he's created and his art has frequented Wonderground Gallery in Disneyland for years.

Over the past two weeks or so, a lot of the items from his new Disney Parks Home Collection have been released at Wonderground.  I was immediately all over any social media post that mentioned it.  The biggest question was if Disney would release the items online.  Thankfully, a few days ago, I came across a post on Facebook stating that the collection would be available online on March 4th at 10 am.  So this morning, at ten of 10:00, I was at my computer, logged into the website and ready to go!

At exactly 10:00 am, the Jerrod Maruyama Disney Parks Home Collection was live.  I put everything from my list in my cart, checked out, and breathed a sigh of relief.  (Most of it is still available a few hours later, but the piece I wanted most did sell out!)  The collection is in the same style as his other Kingdom of Cute designs- which are Disney Parks landmarks, treats, characters and more in a cute, smiling, kawaii style that's popular overseas.  I've always loved this style... put it on home decor and I'm all in.

Now that I've secured my order and my wallet has gotten it's workout in, let's explore the new Jerrod Maruyama Disney Parks Home Decor Collection:

Dumbo Succulent- This was the item I wanted the most.  As soon as I saw the first post online, I knew I wanted one.  Dumbo reminds me of going to Walt Disney World as a child.  Eliot and I flew on Dumbo together during my first time at Disneyland.  I also have memories of going on Dumbo with Eliot on our honeymoon.  This last trip, we took my cousin's kids on Dumbo and it felt like a full circle moment for me.  This little faux succulent planter will always make me smile.

White Rabbit in Tea Cup Succulent- I'm not a fan of riding the tea cups, but this little succulent planter was too cute to pass up.  Plus, it'll look great in our kitchen!

Disney Parks Serving Tray- This has so many cute designs on it!  I don't know if I'll even use it as a serving tray.  I might hang in on our wall instead.

Disney Parks Plate Set- These plates are super cute as well!  I love how the tea cup and the Dumbo plates match the succulent planters!

Disney Parks Nesting Bowl Set- I love how there are cute designs on the outside and the inside of these nesting bowls.  They're almost too cute to use too!

Disney Parks Cake Stand- I'm not sure when I'll use this, but it's really cute!  And, it might give me an excuse to make more cakes and cupcakes!

Dome Top Tumbler- The little characters on the top of this are adorable and I love them.  I'm pretty sure this will be my new "go to" cup for water.

Stainless Steel Bottle- I didn't get this, but I love how it has all of the designs on it.

Water Bottle with Toppers- This is really cute as well.  I love how you can choose from the different bobble toppers!  I didn't buy it, but it's still adorable!

Disney Parks Fleece Throw- Eliot and I really don't need another blanket... but our couch looked a little lonely so now it has a few new Disney friends.  I love how it has all of the different designs and characters on it.  It will be well loved.  (Sorry wallet!)
