Eliot and I have got one more week until we're back at Disney! I'm so excited! And I know... I sound like a broken record. But I simply cannot contain my excitement! It's been a long time since we really enjoyed Disneyland and soaked in the magic.
The last time we were at Disneyland, it was for a single day during our trip to California for Eliot's grandmother's funeral. Our day at Disneyland was a lot of fun, but it was kind of an overcast day. Plus, Sleeping Beauty Castle was completely covered in scrim for repairs. We had a wonderful time, but it was hard to do too much in a day.
The time before that was in the summer of 2018. Eliot and I went out to Disneyland for a few days to check out the Pixar Fest and the newly opened Pixar Pier area of California Adventure. Honestly, that trip is a blur to me now. That was when I was getting overwhelmed trying to juggle my job at the chiropractic office and Happily Ever Hatter. I don't think I even mentioned on here that we were going on that trip.
Basically, it's been a while since Eliot and I have really been able to enjoy Disneyland together. There are so many things that make Disneyland magical. I never pictured it would be my first trip back to Disney post-pandemic times, but now that we're going, it feels like the only appropriate way to re-introduce ourselves to the magic.

I can't wait to experience all of the things that make Disneyland special.
There are plenty of rides that Walt Disney World doesn't have. I love the simplicity of the Storybook Canal Boats and Casey Jr Circus Train. I hate the Mad Tea Party ride but the tea cups under a canopy of lanterns and trees is so beautiful at night. I always have to go on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I love Radiator Springs Racers over in California Adventure. I also really enjoy the Indiana Jones ride. Right now, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage ride is closed, but that's another favorite of mine.
The rides at Disneyland are also different from the ones at Walt Disney World. Pirates of the Caribbean is longer and has two drops. The Haunted Mansion has the hatbox ghost. It's a Small World starts outside and the front of it is so much prettier than the Magic Kingdom's version. It also has dolls themed to Disney characters inside of it.
The overall atmosphere inside of the Disneyland park is so special. You can really feel Walt's presence at Disneyland. There's a simple nostalgia that I've never felt on my visits at Walt Disney World. It's a special kind of Disney magic.
Every trip, before we leave, I always stop at the Main Street Fire Department to look up into the front window. There you'll find a candle that's always lit... it's Walt's candle. It used to be lit whenever he was in the park, but now it always glows to let everyone know that while he isn't physically there, he's still watching over his park. I always stop to silently thank him for a great trip and for creating all of the magic for us to enjoy.
I can't wait to finally be back to experience the magic that is Disneyland.
Only one more week Mickey!!! I'll be there soon!!! °o°
