You Had a Bad Day

Sometimes, you have a bad day and the magic is lost.  Today was like that for me.

I've been feeling so good about everything lately: Eliot and I have made progress on our house.  Both of our businesses are booming which has kept us super busy- but it hasn't really been a stressful busy like it has been in the past.  We got our final COVID shots last week.  We're getting ready to get puppies in the next few months.

Then, today happened and it was kind of a kick in the shins.

This morning, Eliot and I had what I thought was going to be a follow up to my physical back in December, and a check-in for him.  We were running a little behind schedule, but since we both have the same doctor I thought that it would be fine and we'd make up the time.  When we got there, all hell broke loose.  We were having actual exams and we needed to fill out paperwork when they'd be calling for Eliot any minute.

Sure enough, he got called in as soon as we found a place to stand in the already full waiting room.  He asked if I could go in with him and the nurse said yes.  (But in hindsight, I don't think Eliot's nurse realized I was also being seen.)  The nurse that was supposed to come out to get me was left scrambling trying to get me signed in when she wasn't ready for me yet.  She was understandably flustered and I was confused because we had asked to be seen together.

Flash forward to me sitting in the room getting my vitals done.  Eliot was next door getting his vitals checked and then when we were both checked in, they'd move him over to my room.  Everything with check-in went fine... until the blood pressure.

Backstory: I absolutely hate getting my blood pressure checked.  When I was in middle school, we had to learn how to do it in my health class.  I was paired up with another girl in my class and we had to take each others blood pressure with the ones where you do everything yourself.  Well, she got the thing on me, pumped it up, and couldn't get the release valve to work.  I'm not even entirely sure what happened after that... I think my brain has honestly blocked it out because it traumatized me.  All I remember was that it hurt like hell and my entire arm had little red dots going down it after.  Ever since then, I've hated having my blood pressure taken.  I get severe anxiety about it, which is pretty much the opposite of what you want in this situation.

I'm sure you know where this is headed.  Of course, like usual, it was higher than it should be.  Like every other time, I had to have it done on the other arm a few minutes later.  Still high.  I wasn't really alarmed.  One of my parents has high blood pressure and the other has severe white coat syndrome.  I've always chalked it up that I run a little higher than I should to begin with and I also have a case of white coat syndrome... and on top of that I was also traumatized as a kid.

But when you're 36 and not in the best shape at the moment, that's not how the nurses and doctors see it.  Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience with check in the last time I went to the doctor... and this was that all over again.  I've always been a firm believer in bedside manor because you don't know what someone is dealing with internally.  In my nurse's defense, she doesn't know me or what would upset me.  But both times I've been checked in, I haven't had the best taste in my mouth afterwards.

Side Note: I would like to be clear that my doctor is wonderful and I'm so glad Eliot and I found her.  She's kind but to the point.  She doesn't sugarcoat things, but she also doesn't treat us like we're complete idiots.  I've had so many doctors and nurses treat me like I'm clueless.  I'm thankful and incredibly grateful for our current doctor.  In addition, all of the student doctors she's had working with her have been wonderful, professional, knowledgeable and kind as well.

The rest of the appointment went fine.  Eliot was checked over, and then I was.  At this point, I knew we were holding them up on their lunch and I was getting anxious.  But our doctor and her student doctor were kind and didn't rush through anything.  We went over plans for Eliot and then it was my turn.  Everything went as I assumed it would and I thought I was in the clear.  That's when the other shoe dropped.

My doctor wants to put me on medication for high blood pressure.

The rest of the day has just kind of dragged by with me in a blur.  I immediately got defensive in the room, which my anxiety has me playing over and over again wishing that I'd done and said something else.  Again, she's a wonderful doctor and I trust her opinion.  I don't want her to think that I don't trust her because I do.  I just think this happened so fast that it caught me off guard.

She agreed to my idea of taking my blood pressure at home twice a week for the next 2 weeks and I left without the prescription she wanted to put me on.  But now, I'm dreading that next appointment.  I don't want to be checked in by a nurse.  I want her to take my blood pressure... and I don't even know if that's possible.

Right now, I'm fighting with myself over if I should send her an email or not.  I think she should know that I haven't had the greatest experiences checking in, but I don't want to get anyone in trouble.  I do think it's a problem though.  (There's more to this story but this is not the place to be airing that.)  Long story short, I'm not comfortable with the check-in process and it's going to do me no good if I go in there another time and get myself all worked up before I have to get my blood pressure taken again.

I don't know why I fought it.  I feel like I'm in a losing battle.  And I hate myself for it.

All day, I've internally beaten myself up over what I could have done differently.  Why did I get so defensive with her?  Why haven't I been walking more outside while being holed up for the past year?  Why haven't I been eating better, even though I have been more conscious of what I'm eating.  Why have I done this to myself?

The truth is that this probably isn't a big deal.  I'm pretty sure that my doctor said the medication was more precautionary than anything.  I honestly blacked out like you see on tv when the doctor is talking and you don't hear them.  After coming back to reality, I asked a few questions and it's something that can be reversed... that is if I can ever get my stupid blood pressure to not be horrific at the office.  (Which feels unlikely...)

My mother talked me off the ledge a bit after I got out of Michael's.  (I went immediately after the appointment because Eliot's boss needed him to come to work right away and I didn't want to be alone.  Going to the craft store- my other happy place- seemed like the best option and I needed to go anyways.)  My Mom is probably right, after Eliot and I get our puppies, the exercise I'll get from tending to them will help.  And just having the puppies in my life will probably make my blood pressure go down naturally.  If only I could bring them into the doctor's office with me.

And I'm dreading that next appointment.  The one where she will probably put me on medication because no matter how much I tell myself to relax, I won't be able to.  I'm not sure that it even matters if I monitor my blood pressure the next two weeks while I'm at home.  If I can't get it to go down in the office, will it matter?  Will I be stuck on this medication for the rest of my life?

I mean, I probably do need something if things don't change.  But after the last 15+ months we've been through, this feels rushed.  If I'm being 100% honest with myself, I'm happy to be here and healthy overall.  I've said it before- 2019 was not a good year for me mentally.  2020 could have completely crushed me, but somehow I came out on top.  2021 has had it's moments, but I still feel like I've been triumphant.  And I've even felt like I've finally got my groove back the past few months.  Like I'm fully me again.

And I'm overwhelmingly terrified of losing that.

Here I sit at 11:00 pm on a Friday night all alone with nothing but my thoughts.  Eliot's still at work making up the hours he missed on his birthday.  He knew that I was upset when he said goodbye to me in the parking lot, but I don't think he realized how upset I was.  If he had known, he would have done whatever his boss needed and he would have come home to be with me.  But I couldn't do that to him.

I've struggled to get through the day, but it's almost time to go to bed and begin a new day.  I probably spent at least an hour in Michael's just trying to let my mind wander to it's creative spot.  Then, I went home and rewatched the A Million Little Things season finale.  After, I ended up going upstairs to take a nap.  I only got 6 hours of sleep last night, so I was tired anyways.  But honestly, I just didn't want to be alone in my own head all evening.  And taking a nap ensured me a few hours of quiet.  I got back up at 8:00 and I've tried to get some work done but I just can't seem to focus.

So I ended up here.  I internally debated with myself for over an hour if I should even write about today over here.  But, as I'm still alone with my thoughts, this seemed like a good place to get out some of my feelings.  Eliot will be on his way home soon, and I'm sure that will make me feel better.  Plus, then I can go back to bed.

Tomorrow is another day.  And things could be so much worse.  I could have gotten a terrible prognosis, so I probably should just shrug this one off.  Tomorrow is another chance to be better.  To make different decisions.  To make strides forward.

Finally, before I end this, I would like to thank you all.  Thank you for providing me a space where I feel safe being honest.  I've always believed mental health shouldn't be a taboo topic, but it's really scary when you're the one putting yourself out there.

Thank you for allowing me the space to talk about my feelings and struggles in a way that feels safe.  I'm forever grateful for you.

And I'm ok.  Admittedly, today got me in a bit of a funk.  But I've got a lot of things to look forward to this weekend, and I'm going to try to focus on all of that.  Today was definitely a bad day and I lost a little bit of my magic.  But I also know there's a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day.  °o°

Eliot's Birthday

Today is Eliot's 33rd birthday!

While we didn't have any big plans for the day, we still made it a pretty good one.  It was definitely less stressful than a year ago when we were still figuring out what was going on with the pandemic and barely leaving the house.  Now, we're one week into our second shots and halfway to being fully vaccinated and immune!

It's hard to celebrate a birthday on a weekday, and nothing compares to being at Disneyland on your birthday twice.  (Nothing we could have done would compare to Eliot wishing Donald a Happy Birthday and giving him a matching birthday button!)

Today, Eliot had to work, but he worked a few hours less than a typical workday.  (He'll make those extra hours up tomorrow.)  I drove into town and met him at our storage unit.  After eating our D'Angelos subs (that Eliot picked up on the way over) in his car, we went into the storage facility to look at our units.

We were on a mission to find the rest of our fans, but we weren't successful.  It was still a productive trip though.  We went into the first unit to look for the fans, but when we didn't find them, we were still able to take stock and make plans with what we wanted to move back home. Then, we went into the second unit to go over our plan there too.

Then we went home and watched the season finale of A Million Little Things.  I couldn't wait to see how it all played out.  While we watched, I enjoyed the cupcake that Eliot had bought me the other day.  (It's his birthday so I needed cake!)  After a cliffhanger, we decided to stay up for a bit because neither one of us were tired.  And let's face it, the past few days have been so hot that we've barely been able to sleep anyways.  We have gotten a bunch of stuff done at night when it's cool.  Tonight was blissfully cooler.

Eliot went up to his office- the hottest room in the house- to organize some stuff that he hasn't been able to because it's been too hot in there.  I had him stop long enough to help me double team my project.  I wanted to move some of my Loungefly bags into the hallway onto the new 3x3 storage units we bought during Eliot's mini vacation.  I still need to organize it, but I was happy to get them moved out of our bedroom.

After getting a few more things finished around the house (and writing this blog post) we finally went to bed in our (finally!) cooled off bedroom.

It wasn't the most glamorous birthday, but it feels good to have gotten something done for the house.  Plus, we're planning to go out to dinner this weekend anyways to make up for today... so now we have that to look forward to!

Happy Birthday to my out of this world husband!  I love you to Infinity & Beyond!!!  °o°

Magical Merchandise: Rainbows Everywhere

I'm in a rainbow paradise!!!  This year, Disney is going all out with merchandise for Pride month.  Not only do they have their own Rainbow Collection available in their theme parks and on Shop Disney... but this year they are also releasing items at other retailers!  My rainbow loving heart has been overwhelmed with all of the magical, fun, bright merchandise available!  I had come over here to share it with you!

This year, Disney has partnered with so. many. different. retailers... and I'm totally here for it!  I've found merchandise either in store or online at Target, Torrid, BoxLunch, Hot Topic, Kohl's, Amazon, Funko, Joann Fabrics, Love Your Melon and more!  I've been working on this post for a few weeks now- and I keep finding more stuff!  (There's so much I want to share that I almost had to separate this post into two parts...)

I actually got in on all of the rainbow fun long before Disney released their new 2021 rainbow merchandise.  I found a Rainbow Mickey Loungefly bag online at Hot Topic back in April and I bought it thinking it would sell out.  (It's still available as of this post!)

I also jumped into action when I saw the Mickey rainbow fabric at Joann.  I love fun Disney fabric and I knew this would be perfect!  Unfortunately, our local store was sold out at that time.  But thankfully my parents were able to get some from another store over Mother's Day weekend!  Daddy bought me the entire bolt of fabric, so I'll have plenty of it for a bunch of projects.  Maybe we need some rainbow curtains too...

Since then, I've seen much more both online and in person!  I love this so much; I had to share it here so you could see all of the fun rainbow merchandise too!  Here are a few of my favorite items from other retailers (organized by retailer).

Hot Topic

Hot Topic was the first website that I checked for Disney Rainbow Pride products.  (I had heard about the rainbow Loungefly bag and I knew there was a good chance they would have more items online.)  Over the past few months, I've watched as their Pride collection has multiplied.  Even today, I found new items that I hadn't seen before!

My absolute favorite part of the collection are the home decor items.  It's probably the interior designer in me, but I love bright colors and decor!  Eliot and I have a colorful home anyways, so these items are perfect!  As I mentioned before, I bought the Happy Thoughts sign and the Mickey rainbow love banner at our local Hot Topic store.  But I also love the other hanging sign and the wood wall art!

Hot Topic also has a bunch of clothing and accessories for Pride.  Eliot and I found Disney rainbow face masks and socks at our local store.  Online, they have buttons, pins, and my rainbow backpack!  They also have a huge selection of t-shirts; I picked out a few favorites to share here.  I also love the Mickey heart hands tank top and it's currently sitting upstairs.  (I also bought one of those months ago.)  Finally, I am totally obsessed with this new Mickey Rainbow suspender skirt that I found online today!  (It looks like I'll be placing another order very soon!)

BoxLunch

BoxLunch is the sister store to Hot Topic, so naturally I went there next.  They've also added a lot of new Disney Rainbow Pride items recently.  (I was shocked at how many new things I found today!)  I am totally loving the home decor here too!  How cute is that little Mickey and Minnie snow globe!  And I love the Rainbow picture frame!  I found the tumblers on the last page and I'm so glad I checked!  They're really cute!

I'm also loving the accessories here.  This Mickey backpack is super cute!  I love how big, bold and bright the mouse ears are!  I also love the journal, the Stitch scrunchies and the Stitch cosmetic cases.  It's all so bright and fun!

BoxLunch also has a ton of t-shirts.  I picked out a small few of my favorites here as well.  There are a lot of Mickey, Stitch and Star Wars designs to choose from!

Torrid

Torrid has done a Pride collection in the past, but this year they went all out.  Although, I wasn't super excited about this year's Disney Pride items.  The sweatshirt was cute and I like the leggings, but the Stitch shirt with the cutout sleeves wasn't doing it for me.  I'm also not a huge villains fan so the Ursula tank didn't make it in my cart either.

However, I immediately fell in love with a few of the generic Rainbow Pride items from the collection.  After much deliberation, I finally placed my order this past weekend.  I missed out on the sleeveless tie dye tank I'd wanted, but I still got a skirt, tank, long sweater, cardigan, and a dress.  (Ok, so I went a little crazy but I really love this stuff!)

Amazon

Amazon has so many shirts!!!  I never think to look on Amazon for t-shirts, but I'd sure be missing out if Disney hadn't mentioned there would be products available over there!  They have a good selection of Disney, Star Wars, Avengers and Harry Potter designs.  These were my favorites!

Kohl's

Kohl's also had a huge selection of Disney Pride shirts.  From Mickey and Minnie to Star Wars, they've got you covered.  They also have a Mickey Rainbow shirt (top middle) that's available in sizes for the entire family!  There's even a necklace!

Funko

Last year, Funko debuted a rainbow colored, Batman, Hello Kitty and SpongeBob SquarePants Pride Funko Pops.  They were a bit hit, but for Disney fans like Eliot and me, they were clearly missing an opportunity.  Thankfully, I can finally stop grumbling because they've got a whole bunch of them this year.  So far, they've released Mickey, Wall-E, Stitch and a few others at multiple retail shops.  Eliot and I are now anxiously waiting for the release of Minnie, Goofy and BB-8 as exclusives on Funko's website.

Target

Target has a giant Pride Collection.  They don't have many Disney items, but they do have the Funko Pops available online.  They also have this cute Mickey shirt!

Walmart

Surprisingly, Walmart doesn't have a pride collection of their own.  There are plenty of items available online, but the majority are from 3rd party sellers.  However, Walmart does have the Funko Pops and they also had these men's tank tops.

Cakeworthy

Cakeworthy released a few items for Pride Month.  I love their products and I love purchasing from them because they a LGBTQIA+ run brand.  I was so excited to find out that they were making Pride items!  I really love the Rainbow Mickey Ear Baseball Hat.  The Rainbow Mickey Overalls are cute, but I don't think I'd wear them.  The Rainbow Mickey Tank is really fun... I love how Mickey's name and his outfit are both rainbows!  Eliot doesn't have as many rainbow outfits so I might get him a Rainbow Sensational 6 Button Down Shirt to wear unbuttoned like a Hawaiian shirt.

Joann Fabrics

Some of the retailers carrying Disney Rainbow Pride merchandise surprised me.  One of them was Joann.  While I was on Etsy, I found a shop selling a Rainbow Mickey skirt and I really loved it.  I checked out their shop and realized they used a lot of fabrics from Joann.  I jumped right over to Joann's website and lo and behold, there were a bunch of different Disney Pride fabrics available!  This is the Mickey fabric I fell in love with- the one I begged my parents to get when it was sold out at our local store.

But there were also a few others available!  I also really like the one where Mickey is running and it has his name in the background.  I'm also a fan of the Sensational 6 on the black background!  The colors really pop!

Love Your Melon

Love Your Melon was probably my biggest surprise for Disney Pride merchandise.  I was scrolling through Facebook a few days ago when I saw an advertisement for the collection.  I was immediately drawn to the bright colors of the tie dye hat, as well as the sharp contrast of the white hat with the Rainbow Minnie patch.  The Disney x Love Your Melon Pride Collection actually just went on sale this morning, and I bought the cuffed Black Mickey and White Minnie hats, as well as the Minnie tie dye pom pom hat!

I was also really impressed that they released solid red, orange, yellow, green, blue and lavender hats with Mickey or Minnie patches as well.  There are tons of options to pick from!  And if winter hats aren't your thing, Love Your Melon also released a few other items.  They made baseball hats- which sold out within the first hour.  They also made a few bucket hats, t-shirts and long sleeve t-shirts!

And there you have it friends!!!  That's all of the Disney Rainbow Pride merchandise that I've found so far!  (But you can guarantee that I'm keeping my eyes peeled!)

Look at all of those beautiful, bright colors!  It's so much fun!  I am totally onboard with Disney having Pride merchandise available somewhere other than the parks!  I hope this is a sign of things to come in the future too!  I'd love to have Disney rainbow items available at multiple retailers in June!  Plus, it's a bonus that most of these places are donating some of their proceeds to organizations helping the LGBTQIA+ community!

Thank you to Disney and all of the retailers that are releasing Disney Rainbow Pride merchandise!  I can't wait to get my hands on our new rainbow products so Eliot and I can show that we're proud allies supporting the LGBTQIA+ community!!! 🌈

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers and me!!!  °o°

The Other Side

It's been three days since Eliot and I joined the population of those who have received their 2nd COVID vaccination.  It's been a bit of a ride, but I think we've made it to the other side at this point.  But the past two days have been interesting to say the least.

Wednesday night we were feeling pretty good when I posted my blog post at 8:15.  Our left arms were sore, but neither of us were in excruciating pain.  However, a few short hours later, Eliot started to develop really sore muscles.  My whole arm was sore, but I was feeling ok.  I took Tylenol before bed, just in case, and we went to bed around 2.

I was awake again at 6:30 am after not sleeping well.  When I woke up, my head was pounding and my neck and shoulders were killing me.  For me, this is not an abnormal occurrence, as I often wake with these same problems.  I wasn't sure if it was the shot or how I slept on my pillow... but I knew I was in a lot of pain.

Since I'd already taken Tylenol only a few hours prior, I couldn't take anymore until 8:00 am.  After an awful hour of attempting to get comfortable and trying to ignore the pain, I said screw it and went downstairs for supplies.  At 7:30 am, I took more Tylenol and sat propped up on the couch to get the pressure off my neck and shoulders.  While I was trying to relax, I had the morning news on in the background and rested my eyes with an ice pack on my neck and a cold washcloth on my forehead.

After about an hour, I went back up to bed with my cold washcloth.  It took me a little bit to fall back asleep, but the cold washcloth helped.  Once I finally fell back asleep, I was out cold and I didn't come to again until 12:15 pm when Eliot was also getting up.  At that point, it was apparent that it was going to be a long day.  We both made our way downstairs and attempted to go about our day... but it didn't last long.

Eliot had a massive headache, the sweats and his muscles were so sore he couldn't walk properly.  I tetter-tottered between having a massive headache and a dull one all day.  We both took Tylenol- but it didn't change anything.  Neither of us had a fever but we both felt so hot.  We cranked the air conditioner up, and that helped a little, but it was still rough.  We both felt like a freight train had run us over.

We wanted to be productive, but there wasn't much we could do.  The brain fog was awful and I couldn't focus.  Thankfully, Eliot was able to keep the 3D printers running so we were at least productive with that.  We ended up watching the last Hallmark Christmas movie that was on our DVR from the holiday season.  Once that was over, we watched a bit of the news and tried to start another Hallmark movie, but we both quickly lost interest and were half falling asleep after the first 30 minutes.

Around 4:00 pm, we both decided that we'd pushed ourselves enough and that it was time for a nap.  I grabbed my new pillow that I'd bought at Walmart after we got our vaccinations.  It was glorious.  Getting it into the new pillowcase was a pain in the butt with a sore arm, but the pillow itself was so fluffy.  After four magical hours of sleep, I woke from my nap feeling a million times better than when I woke that morning.

Eliot and I got out of bed the second time with a little more motivation.  Neither of us were feeling 100%, but we were able to get a few things done for our businesses.  We turned on a few of the NHL hockey playoff games and listened to those while we worked on orders.  We did as much as we physically could, then we sat and watched the rest of the games that went into overtime.  After, we switched back over to the Hallmark movie that we'd started.  Once that was over, we went back to bed again.

Friday morning, we woke up just before our alarm was going to go off at 10:00.  (Ok, I actually awoke to a loud bang of something falling on the bathroom floor.)  Eliot had woken up before me and taken my phone to call the tire place to reschedule his 2:30 pm appointment that afternoon.  (Yup, that was my phone that fell.)  I got out of bed a few minutes later and we proceeded to start our day.

Eliot also contacted his work to tell them that he was staying home another day.  He still didn't feel well and had a bad case of the sweats.  I was thrilled that my splitting headache was gone.  While eating something for breakfast, we watched Manifest on our DVR from Thursday night.  Then, it was time to attempt to get to work.

For the next few hours, we worked through as many orders as we could.  We finished a lot of desk accessories.  Eliot printed shipping labels and packaged as many orders as he could.  Then, he went to the post office for our 4:30 drop off right before they closed.  We've still got a few more orders that could have gone out, but we ran out of time and were exhausted by the time we finished.

The rest of the evening was a combination of relaxing and work.  Eliot and I stood on our porch watching the chipmunks bounce around the front yard.  I took pictures of our bush that's currently blooming with gorgeous, bright yellow flowers.  We got our trash cans from the end of the road.  Eliot went outdoors for a bit to unwind while I watched one of my tv shows on the DVR.  We turned on playoff hockey.  I took a nap and shortly after I got up, Eliot took a nap.  And then we went back to work some more.

Today, we're going to try to go back to work full force.  We both feel a lot better and Eliot's sweats are finally gone.  He took a large load of orders to the post office this morning, and those we weren't able to get completed will be getting finished over the next few days.  We also have a bunch of things we'd like to get done around the house this weekend.  Hopefully, we'll continue to feel well and be able to get some stuff done!

While the past two days haven't been my favorite, I'm still so relieved that we got the shot.  It's a little depressing that no one else in my family had any symptoms and then I did, but I'm glad no one else was miserable.  Eliot didn't think he'd have problems, but he was knocked on his butt.  I guess you never really know until you get it.  But, this still wasn't as terrible as how sick I was back in January of 2020, so I'll gladly take it!

Three days down... and only 11 to go until full immunity!!!  °o°

I Am Not Throwing Away My Shot

As of 3:40 pm this afternoon, Eliot and I received the second half of our coronavirus vaccines or what I'm fondly calling: my second Fauci Ouchie.

I have to admit that I was more nervous about getting this second one.  I'm not a huge fan of shots, and knowing this one could put me on my butt made it a little more nerve-wracking.  We're still not sure if I had COVID back in January of 2020, but I remember how awful I felt.  I'm relieved to get the shot so I don't have to experience that at full force again.  But even the thought of doing it for a day or two makes me uneasy.

Thankfully, everything went smoothly even though the day started off a bit weird.  This morning, before getting out of bed I went to my text messages to fill out my consent form and when I was finished it told me that the appointment was at 2:00 pm.  Eliot filled his out a minute later and it also said 2:00.  Confused, I called the pharmacy to confirm the time.  The girl on the phone said Eliot's appointment was at 2:00 and that I wasn't on the schedule for today.  She also said it didn't really matter though.  We could come whenever and I could still come in if it was time for my 2nd shot.  After discussing it with Eliot, we decided to stick with the original plan to go in at 3:00 pm.  I figured that if anyone questioned it, I had a screenshot of my 2:00 pm time from the consent form and the original email for my appointment at 3:00 pm.

I arrived at the Walmart in Biddeford around 3:15.  (I forgot about all of the school buses that I'd encounter on the way in.)  Eliot beat me there and was already waiting outside.  We went inside to the pharmacy and got checked in.  Unfortunately, my consent form didn't get processed so I had to fill the paperwork out by hand.

After waiting a few minutes, the pharmacist called our names.  Eliot told me to go first so I stepped into the booth and rolled up my sleeve.  It was a lady this time and she was really nice.  I warned her that I was a bleeder last time and she chuckled.  She used a round bandaid that she put on before I even got the shot.  I think she pierced through the bandage, but I'm not 100% sure because I didn't watch.

What I did notice was that I didn't feel the liquid flowing into my arm this time.  In fact, other than the initial pinch, I didn't feel much at all.  (Even now, 4+ hours later, I only have dull pains here and there so far.)  Eliot went after me and then we both thanked the pharmicist.  She told us to stay for the observation period and I joked that Eliot was going to go by me a candy bar because I was afraid I'd pass out from hunger instead of the shot.  She then offered me a snack from a giant basket they had sitting there!

For the next 15 minutes, Eliot and I sat in the waiting area at the pharmacy making sure we didn't have any reactions.  I was happy as a clam that it was over with and that my arm hadn't already gone numb like the previous time.  I munched on my snack size Cheese-Its before turning my attention to posting on Facebook.  I uploaded our photo with a clever caption... and then I added a bunch of little vaccination gifs.

After our observation period was up, Eliot and I did some shopping.  I had a bunch of things I needed to get: toothpaste, deodorant, a new pillow, cleaning supplies and a giant list of groceries.  We took our time getting everything and wandering through the store.  Then, we loaded both my car and the truck up.  I didn't even have a problem lifting and carrying the heavy shopping bags!  Woo!

I really think our second shots went the best they could... even with the scheduling confusion.  Eliot and I both feel great as of right now, and I can still move my arm!

Plus, I tried to have a little fun with it.  I'm always looking for an occasion to dress up and I had planned to buy a special Hamilton themed shirt to wear, but I decided not to bother.  I ended up wearing my "Can You Feel This Magic in the Air?" Taylor Swift themed Aladdin shirt from Pixie Lee instead and I thought it was still fitting!  Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is a magical feeling!

But I am regretting not buying a sticker.  I had a few fun ones picked out on Etsy, but I wasn't sure what I'd do with it afterwards.  Although, I probably could have used it in my scrapbook.  COVID hasn't exactly been a positive experience, but it has been an experience nonetheless.  (Eliot was supposed to print something but he forgot!)

My brother Jeremy also received his second vaccine today after work, so at this point, everyone in my immediate family has had theirs!  I'm so relieved and I hope this means that things will start to get back to normal.  I'm also relieved that we're protected.  And I'm also glad we don't have to wear masks when we visit my family now!

I'm not sure what's in store for us the next few days... but I'm preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.  My parents and Nana didn't have a reaction to their shots at all, but Eliot's mom and one of his sisters did.  I've heard so many mixed reactions from my friends online... who knows what'll happen.  Like the last time, I've gone in prepared so that if Eliot and/or I have to lay in bed for a day or two, we have should have enough wiggle room in our order production schedule that everything will be ok.  Time will tell...

Regardless of how our next few days turn out, I'm happy and relieved that Eliot and I have joined the list of those fully vaccinated!  The countdown to June 16th begins!!!

Jumping Into June

Happy June Everyone!!!  I feel like today is going to be a great day.  Not only is it the beginning of another month, but it's the beginning of a fun month for us!

First of all, today is my Dad's birthday!  We won't see Dad today, but we did just see him over Memorial Day weekend.  That's a whole lot better than all of us celebrating his birthday from afar like last year... so I'll take what I can get!

This first of June also marks the first day of Pride Month!  Over the past few years, I've gotten a lot more bright rainbow stuff that I can wear.  I have a bunch of new rainbow glasses toppers from Pair Eyewear and their 2021 Pride Collection.  I've also got some new Disney rainbow clothing and accessories.  I'm excited to wear my new rainbow gear because it's bright, fun and I can show support for all of my LGBTQIA+ friends!

Bright colors are perfect for summer and flipping the calendar to June means that summer is just around the corner!  The weather here in Maine has been heating up even though summer isn't officially here until June 21st.

Plus, Eliot and I have also got some other things to look forward to this month!  We will be fully vaccinated and "in the clear" soon!  Eliot's birthday is also this month... as well as Father's Day.  My parents and Jeremy are going to be coming to help us with some stuff around the house in a few weeks.  And Eliot and I will be keeping ourselves busy with orders for both shops and getting the house ready for puppies!

It's sure to be another busy month but I'm excited to see what's in store for us!  °o°
