I've been doing some heavy thinking lately so today I wanted to do a fun and light-hearted post! One of my favorite ways to take time to sit and relax is to play a few rounds of Disney's Emoji Blitz game on my cell phone. I know that I've talked about it here and there in the past, but today I thought I'd dive in a little more.

Today, Disney Emoji Blitz officially turns 5!
Before I go any further, I have to admit that I'm not really a video game person. (I play like once every few years.) When Jeremy first got his N64, I just took Mario and made him run around in circles and swim around underwater. The purpose of the game is usually lost on me. However, I do love Mario Kart and Toy Story Mania! It's been a very long time since I played them... but I'm not awful at those!

Emoji Blitz is really the only game that I've ever committed to. I love how it's on my phone and convenient. When we're stuck waiting in a long line, that's usually how a pass the time. Waiting room at a doctor's office? Emoji Blitz to the rescue.
The game is a matching game where you match three or four emojis. It's a fast paced game where you earn power ups when you complete matches. Then, you can collect emojis, prizes and other emojis while you complete missions, compete in events and even play against other Emoji Blitz players in Food Fight rounds!
The best part is there are so many ways to play. Each day, there are daily missions that you can complete to collect prizes. These are usually the first thing I do so I get lots of prizes. You can also complete missions to level up. At this point, I've worked my way up to mission level 421. (Right now, the highest level available is 570.)
You can also collect items on the board to complete item collections. Each time you complete a board, you get all of those emojis for your keyboard. They have tons of themes. There are item collections for food, costumes, movies, theme parks, objects and so much more. I've actually completed all of these levels and received a little trophy for it. Then, the game made me start over... but the prizes for completing each card have gotten sweeter than they originally were- so I don't mind it!

On top of missions and item collections, the game also has a bunch of different events each month. Nowadays, they post the calendar of events on the Emoji Blitz Facebook page at the beginning of each month. They usually last a few days depending on the style. These are great because it's a way to mix up the usual game play. Different types of events include: Challenge Events, Clear Events, Food Fight Face-Offs, Item Card Events, Magic Key Events, Multi-Map Events, Rainbow Falls, Survival Events, Tag Team Events, Token Events, and Villain Events. (Read more about events here.)
My favorite part of the game is that you can collect the character emojis. They have separated the characters into boxes. Right now, there are "boxes" of Silver Emojis, Gold Emojis, Villain Emojis, Rainbow Emojis and Story Emojis When the game first started five years ago... they only had silver and gold! Then, they slowly added villain emojis. Rainbow emojis are a lot more rare. The story emojis are movie moments and include emojis like Winter Belle, Wedding Cinderella, Baby Moana, Tiara Rapunzel, Wedding Ariel and Mulan as Ping. Af of right now, I have most of them! I'm missing a few of the more rare ones, but I've got quite a collection!

Another newer feature are the character Group Collections. This is really cool because you collect prizes when you level up emojis in a certain group. I've collected all of the silver emojis so I've completed all of those Group Collections as well. Sometimes, the prize for completing a collection is another emoji. I've earned 8-bit Mickey (Mickey and Friends), Chip (Beauty and the Beast), Rajah (Aladdin), Mufasa (The Lion King), Boo (Monsters Inc.) and Rabbit (Winnie the Pooh) for completing those Group Collections.
The coolest part is that when you add an emoji to your collection, you also get it to use on your keyboard. I don't use these as often as often as I should, but you can actually use them in text messages! (You can read more about Emoji Blitz here.)

Over the past five years, I've actually gotten really good at the game. Nemo is my most powered up emoji and he's also my favorite one to use. With him, I regularly top the leaderboard (which earns me 10,000 coins each week) and I've also hit over 100,000,000 with him a few times! Thankfully, the more you play, the more your emojis get leveled up so by using him often, he also keeps getting stronger. When you first start playing, it's hard to get high scores, but it gets easier as you make each emoji stronger. I love how all of my efforts pay off when I'm playing the game now!
Over the past few years, I've had a lot of fun playfully competing with Eliot, Jeremy, Eliot's sister Sara and his Dad. At this point, I think I'm the only one still playing it regularly and I always beat all of them since my emojis are so powered up. Although, the past few months, I have a ton of lives stored up from the prizes on my free spins. I just don't have time to play nearly as much as I used to! But I do still love it!

Plus, I love how they keep changing up the events and adding more emojis. There's no sign of the game slowing down anytime soon. Each time Disney releases a new movie, they usually have an event with new emojis from that movie. Recently, they've added both Raya and Luca emojis. It's a great tie in and publicity for their new movies all worked right into the game.

In addition to characters, they also have a ton of other emojis that you can collect like park attractions, foods, character's outfits and accessories, other animals, objects, buildings, flowers, holidays, things from the movies and so much more!
Over the past five years, Disney has made some merchandise items using the emoji designs from the game. A few years ago, they had a bunch of emoji merchandise available. There were shirts, bags, luggage and more. I bought a few of the bags because they're simple and cute Disney designs. I also have a bunch of the shirts. I'm sure that most people don't even realize the designs are from the game!

They also made emoji designs for the Disney Cruise Line and Aulani. I was so excited to see these designs! I bought a few things with the cruise emojis on it. And I love how Duffy is on the Aulani merchandise!!!

Unfortunately, they don't have these characters available in the game yet, but I am hoping they will eventually! I have a few of these shirts too! (Eliot got me the Aulani tank top for Christmas a few years ago.) I hope I can wear it to Aulani someday!

A few years ago, Disney made an emoji back to school collection. I bought the kids backpack and the matching lunch box that attaches to it! They're really cute!

Eliot even made me a pair of Mickey and Minnie ears to match my favorite emoji shirt!
In addition to my emoji clothing and accessories, we also have some emoji decor. A few years ago, Eliot and I found some Disney emoji pillows at Walmart. At this point, we have quite an extensive collection of them! We've tucked them away for the time being; I'm planning to put them in our family movie room when it's finally finished!

One of my favorite things that they've done was the website where you could turn yourself into a Disney Emoji Blitz style emoji! I had a lot of fun making one of myself!
As you can see, both Eliot and I are big fans of the emojis and the Disney Emoji Blitz game. Happy Birthday Emoji Blitz! May you have many more years of blitzing! °o°
