#tbt Disneyland Spring Dapper Day 2016

Happy Thursday!  Today, I wanted to pop in for a minute to do a quick Throwback Thursday post.  Dapper Day at Disneyland is this weekend (April 23rd & 24th) and at Walt Disney World the following weekend (April 30th and May 1st).  That info got me thinking back to the Dapper Day that I attended at Disneyland.  I can't believe that it's already been six years since my first, and so far only, Dapper Day at Disneyland.

Today, I'm doing a quick overview, but if you want to read more about my Disneyland Spring Dapper Day experience in depth, you can do that here.

I remember waking up that morning and I was really excited to see everyone else's outfits in the parks.  I had taken a few weeks working on putting together my outfit.  I wanted to dress up as Minnie Mouse for my first Dapper Day and since I was visiting during the Disneyland 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration, I specifically dressed up as Minnie in her special Diamond Celebration outfit!

I wasn't in the park long before I realized Dapper Day is all about the photos.  Being alone, I wanted to take all of my photos in the morning before I went back to my room (at the Disneyland Hotel) and changed into comfortable clothes to enjoy the park.

I made sure to get the required Sleeping Beauty Castle and Partners Statue photo.

I also made sure to take photos with Mickey Mouse.  He liked my outfit.

Of course, I also had to get a twinsie photo with Minnie Mouse!  She loved my outfit as well.  Unfortunately, her photo location was half in the shade and half in the sun so the photos didn't come out great.  (Thankfully, I got amazing photos with her the next time I wore my outfit the second time a few weeks later!)

After that, my feet had just about had it in my shoes so I called it good.  I did make a quick pit stop at the Dapper Day Expo (which was also at the Disneyland Hotel) before I returned to my room to change.  I was already pretty sore so I didn't spend much time at the expo though.  I really just did a quick walk through to check it out.

I learned a lot during my first Dapper Day... and #1 was to bring comfortable slip on shoes to slide in and out of in between photos.  If the photos are your main purpose, be comfortable in between photo locations!  I also learned that going to the Dapper Day Expo on another day then your main park day was key.  I would have loved to have time to explore more and not feel rushed to get back over to the park!

Finally, most importantly, I learned to have fun with Dapper Day!  I had so much fun in my Minnie Mouse 60th anniversary inspired outfit.  I also think my meet and greet character interactions with Mickey and Minnie were a lot better due to my outfit.  Plus, I definitely think Disneybounding as Minnie made the entire experience more fun!

The only thing I would have changed (if I could) was to have Eliot with me dressed up as Mickey!  But I had a great time even though I was by myself.  However, I really hope that Eliot and I can experience Dapper Day at Disneyland together someday!  °o°
