It's my Mom's birthday today. We don't always see her on her birthday to begin with, but this year it feels like we're extra far apart. Eliot, Jeremy and I were supposed to go to Mom and Dad's house to celebrate both my Mom and Nana's birthdays over Easter weekend but due to social distancing, all of those plans have been put on hold. Once again, we find ourselves celebrating from afar, but I'm thankful I was able to at least call my Mom to talk for a few minutes. Plus, Eliot surprised me with a mini chocolate cake from the grocery store the other day so I'll be having a slice in Mom's honor.
At some point, we'll all be able to get together to celebrate all of the occasions that we're missing out on now. And I don't know about you, but I think it will make them that much more special. I really can't wait to be able to hug people in person again. In the meantime, I'm sending virtual hugs and happy emojis all around!!!
Even though we're far apart, I'm grateful to celebrate such a special day. My Mom is my family's rock. She always puts everyone else before herself. She's had a pretty rough year, but she always comes back fighting like a warrior. I've always looked up to my Mom; she's truly an inspiration. I hope once this virus is over she's able to go sit overlooking the ocean at the park in Bar Harbor while enjoying a big ice cream!
