October Activities

This month has been flying by!  Things have continued to be busy since our return from Virginia.  I thought I'd do a quick post to fill you in on what we've been up to in October before it's over and we're onto November!

At the end of September and the beginning of October, Eliot's sister Elissa came out to Maine to visit for a few days.  (We haven't seen her since she left Maine last summer so we were excited to see her!)  Her UNE Alumni and Family Weekend was the first weekend of October.  They were also having a Portland Harbor Cruise for the class of 2020 as a lame consolation prize for them not doing anything for their graduation.

She was staying with a friend, but Eliot and I still got to visit with her a bit.  One of the days she was here, Elissa and I went to Portland to spend the afternoon shopping.  We had a great time at the mall and exploring Joann.  (She was borrowing my sewing machine for a project so we went to buy supplies.)  After we were done shopping, Eliot and her friend met us at Longhorn Steakhouse and we enjoyed dinner together.  (We were having so much fun we didn't even think to take any pictures of us!)

Eliot and I also took her to the airport when she was flying back to her internship in West Virginia.  We made sure she got checked in and through security ok.  It's always hard to say goodbye, but we're hoping that we'll see her again sometime soon!

That Saturday, October 2nd, Eliot and I took a quick trip up to Waterville to switch cars with my Dad.  We still had their Jeep after coming back from Virginia so we went up to Waterville to give him the Jeep and to pick the truck back up.  Eliot and I looked around Hobby Lobby while waiting for Dad to arrive.  When we were leaving the store, he was just getting out of the truck.  We talked with him in the parking lot for a few minutes before we bid him farewell.  Before driving home, we went to the Waterville Walmart and I'm so glad we did because we found a bunch of Disney Christmas inflatables!

The following day, we spent the day at home working on orders while listening to football in the background.  That evening, I tuned in for the Patriots vs Buccaneers game.  It was one that I was equally looking forward to and dreading as it was Tom Brady's return to New England.  It was a surprisingly emotional evening for me.  (I won't lie, there were quite a few tears shed.)  The Pats played really well, but I can't say I was sad when we lost.  It was really nice to see Tom Brady in his element at Gillette Stadium again... even if he wasn't in our uniform.

The rest of the week was quiet other than my fall sewing class starting on the 5th.  Eliot and I continued to work hard on orders trying to get caught up and ahead so we could take another weekend off.  Thankfully, it all worked out and we went to Trenton and Bar Harbor on the 9th and 10th.  (Monday was the holiday, but Eliot had to work anyways.)

The next week was much of the same: sewing class and working on orders.  Hockey started on Tuesday the 12th so Eliot and I listened to games while working.  Saturday the 16th, we took the afternoon off to go on a quick shopping trip up in Portland.  (I had to get a few things at Joann for sewing class, but we also checked TJ Maxx, Kohl's and Burlington.)  Later that night we watched the Sharks first game of the season.  Then, we spent the rest of the weekend working hard on orders before our trip.

Of course, Eliot and I have spent the past few days down in western MA for Eliot's EASTEC expo and for a mini getaway.  While October has been a busy month, I've enjoyed it!  It feels really good to be doing things and actually seeing people again!

I can't wait to see what activities the rest of the month has in store for us!  °o°
